Trillium Brewing presents LIVE MUSIC!! We welcome The Underground Trio to rock the taproom on Thursday, November 29th from 6-8PM!

About The Underground Trio:

"We are a piano trio based in the Boston area with a broad repertoire ranging from the American Songbook to modern jazz to pop covers. Our influences include Larry Grenadier, Jack DeJohnette, Brad Mehldau, Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny, and Esbjorn Svensson.

Gian Pangaro started playing double bass on an old plywood Kay he found in the closet of his high school music department. In the 25 years since that day, he has performed jazz, classical, Americana, and world music throughout the US and internationally. His teachers have included John Lockwood, Don Palma, Jim Orleans, Dan Greenspan, Dave Hollender, Anne Trout, and Pascale Delache Feldman. Today, Gian focuses mainly on jazz and improvisational music, performing in the Boston area with the Underground Trio and as a sideman in other groups. He also works as a luthier, repairing basses, cellos, and guitars.

Matt Reed grew up in Maine and began playing drums at age 9. He immediately fell in love and continued studying and performing in his school’s concert, marching, and jazz bands. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst he returned to Maine and began a deeper study of jazz with the late drumming great, Steve Grover. Later on, he relocated to Boston, MA and connected with drumming master, Bob Gullotti, who he continues to study with presently. Matt performs various styles of music professionally throughout the Boston area. He is passionate about playing all types of music but his heart lies with jazz.

James DeFilippo is from Massachusetts and started taking piano lessons at age 8. He played gospel and classical styles at a local church but caught the jazz bug through his older cousin, who introduced him to improvisation. Throughout college, he played in small group ensembles led by trumper Walter Platt and bassist Chuck Gabriel and performed locally with the band Moody Street Sound. Since graduating James has studied privately with the jazz pianists Harvey Diamond, Joe Reid, and Ran Blake. He performs with Hypnago, an improvisational funk group from Lowell as well as Underground Trio, based in Boston.”
