Permutation is our experimental series of small batch offerings, showcasing the unique visions and innovative concepts developed by our brewing and cellar crew. We name these beers in sequence - their numbering first indicates the year in the Trillium lifespan that the beer was released, followed by a recipe indicator. Brewed at our Fort Point location, Permutation 6.17 marks another entry of our deeper exploration into the unique and innovative hops being cultivated in the Southern Hemisphere. For this batch, we focussed on New Zealand origin Pacific Jade from Freestyle Farms.
An update to our recipe for Permutation 79, this single IPA utilizes flaked oats in the malt bill. Pouring a light golden orange with moderate haze, Permutation 6.17 greets the nose with bright aromas of ripe summer peaches, lemon peel, and tropical papaya. On the palate, these flavors meld and deepen with notes of fresh melon slices and crushed lime while a soft, rounded peppery bitterness provides balance. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and smooth mouthfeel, Permutation 6.17 offers a clean and mouthwatering finish.
